This excellent quality George II mahogany bureau dates to circa 1750 and is an attractive example of traditional English Georgian furniture.
The bureau features a beautifully figured mahogany fall front which opens to reveal a well-appointed writing interior. The arrangement includes a writing surface, pigeonholes, a selection of small drawers and a concealed well, providing both character and practical storage.
The lower section has an interesting drawer arrangement, comprising a releasable top drawer above two short and two long graduated drawers, all fitted with brass handles. The bureau is completed by traditional bracket feet.
With its attractive figured mahogany, practical writing interior and classic mid-18th-century proportions, this is a fine piece of antique furniture that would make an excellent addition to a traditional study, library or home office.
