Antique Furniture Restoration

 

Restoration has always been at the heart of Norbury Antiques.

With my background in handcrafted furniture and antique restoration, I believe that good restoration

should enhance a piece without taking away what makes it special.

Where furniture requires restoration, I use traditional techniques and materials wherever appropriate,

carefully repairing and reviving each piece while retaining as much of its original character as possible.

Original colour, patina, timber and period features are all important, and I avoid unnecessary restoration

simply for the sake of making a piece look new.

Some pieces require more extensive antique furniture restoration, while others need little more than

careful cleaning and waxing to bring out the natural beauty of the timber. Each piece is assessed

individually, with the aim of presenting it in the best condition possible while respecting its history.

For me, the appeal of antique furniture lies not only in how it looks, but in how it was made. My aim is

to preserve that craftsmanship and allow each piece to be enjoyed for many years to come.
