A fantastic quality Antique Georgian mahogany chest of drawers, dating from circa 1780, with a beautifully figured solid top, original swan-neck brass handles and elegant ogee bracket feet.
The chest has a particularly impressive solid figured mahogany top, displaying the deep figuring and rich, warm colour associated with fine Georgian mahogany furniture. The natural variation in the grain gives the top considerable character and depth.
Below are two short over three long graduated drawers, each retaining its original swan-neck brass handles. The chest stands on traditional ogee bracket feet, completing its elegant Georgian form.
The combination of the deep, richly figured mahogany, original brass furniture and classic proportions makes this a particularly appealing example of late 18th-century Georgian furniture.
The chest is in excellent condition and has been traditionally and sympathetically restored, with care taken to maintain the original colour and natural patina of the mahogany.
With its generous proportions and five graduated drawers, it offers excellent practical storage while remaining an impressive piece of antique furniture in its own right.
