This attractive Georgian mahogany Pembroke table dates to circa 1800 and is a fine example of the practical and elegant furniture produced during the period.
The table features a beautifully figured solid mahogany top with hinged drop leaves, allowing it to be extended when additional surface space is required. A single drawer is fitted to one end, with a corresponding faux drawer to the opposite end, giving the table a balanced and symmetrical appearance.
The table stands on elegant turned legs terminating in castors, allowing it to be moved with ease.
Pembroke tables were designed with versatility in mind, making them particularly useful in traditional homes where occasional additional table space was needed. This example would work equally well as a drawing room table, occasional table or a useful piece beside a sofa or chair.
