A good quality Antique Georgian oak bureau, dating from circa 1750, with a beautifully figured and crossbanded fall front, fitted writing interior and four graduated drawers.
The bureau has a particularly attractive fall front with figured and crossbanded oak, which opens to reveal a practical fitted interior. Inside are a writing surface, a selection of small drawers and pigeon holes, providing the traditional arrangement associated with an 18th-century bureau.
The lower section is fitted with four long graduated drawers, each retaining brass handles, while the whole piece stands on simple and elegant bracket feet.
With its warm oak colour, attractive figuring and classic Georgian proportions, this is a particularly appealing example of early Georgian furniture. The combination of a writing desk and generous drawer storage also makes it a highly practical piece for a study, home office or living room.
The bureau is in excellent condition and has been traditionally and sympathetically restored, with care taken to maintain its original colour and natural patina.
