A fine quality antique Regency tea table dating from circa 1820, with a particularly attractive figured burr/pollard oak top, cross-banded with contrasting purpleheart.
The rectangular top opens to extend the table surface, making this an elegant and versatile piece of Regency furniture. The top is supported on an attractive octagonal and vase-shaped pedestal, which stands on a platform base terminating in shaped feet with the original castors.
The combination of richly figured burr oak, purpleheart cross-banding and the elegant pedestal gives the table considerable character, while the original castors are an appealing surviving feature.
This Regency tea table is in very good original condition and has been traditionally and sympathetically cleaned and waxed to maintain the original colour and patina of the timber.
A particularly attractive example of early 19th-century English furniture, suitable for use as a tea table, occasional table or as a decorative piece within a traditional interior.
