An outstanding quality Regency mahogany bow front chest of drawers, dating from circa 1820, with beautifully figured mahogany, original rosewood handles and shaped carved feet.
The chest has a beautifully figured top above two short over three long graduated drawers, retaining their original rosewood turned knobs. The bow-fronted form gives the chest its elegant Regency proportions, while the shaped and carved feet add further character and detail.
The combination of the rich, figured mahogany, original handles and carefully shaped feet makes this a particularly attractive example of early 19th-century English furniture.
The chest is in excellent original condition and has been traditionally and sympathetically cleaned and waxed to maintain its original colour and patina. The intention has been to enhance the natural beauty of the mahogany while retaining the character and originality of the piece.
A substantial yet elegant chest, with useful storage and excellent proportions, suitable for a bedroom, dressing room or other interior where a quality piece of Regency furniture can be appreciated.
