A lovely quality Antique Victorian mahogany oval coffee table, dating from circa 1860, featuring decorative marquetry, ebony and coromandel detailing.
The generously sized oval top is particularly attractive, with marquetry inlay and ebony and coromandel crossbanding providing a striking decorative border against the mahogany. The top is set above a simple plain frieze and supported by an elegant quatrefoil base.
The shaped outswept legs retain their original castors, adding to the character and authenticity of the table.
The piece is in very good condition and has been traditionally and sympathetically restored, with care taken to maintain its original colour and natural patina.
At 135 cm long and 102 cm wide, this is a generously proportioned coffee or centre table that would make an impressive focal point in a drawing room, sitting room or spacious living room. Its combination of rich mahogany, decorative inlay and elegant Victorian form gives it a strong decorative presence without being overly elaborate.
